Metrocall Introduces SwiftSend PC-Based Wireless Software; Application Enables Contact to Unlimited Word Messaging Devices

ALEXANDRIA, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 31, 2001--Metrocall, Inc. (Nasdaq:MCLL), a leading provider of wireless solutions for mobile workforces, today introduced SwiftSendª, a product that merges the latest in information technology with wireless networking.

The SwiftSend wireless messaging software simplifies the process of sending messages to multiple word and two-way wireless devices. From the convenience of your personal computer, one message can be sent to many colleagues who need messages in real-time.

Metrocall and applications developer Emergin, Inc., collaborated on SwiftSend, which replaces Metrocall NoteSender. A single user can use the SwiftSend to deliver messages via a modem once SwiftSend is installed on IBM compatible PCs. It is also compatible with all Microsoft Windows operating systems, including Microsoft Windows '95, '98, 2000 and Microsoft NT Workstation. Unlimited wireless devices and groups can be contacted, making it ideal for scheduling meetings and alerting colleagues or family members of important developments.

"The release of this product is another indication that Metrocall has emerged as not only a wireless messaging leader, but a provider of office-friendly applications that improve communications processes," said Stan F. Sech, Metrocall's senior vice president of business development and integration. "SwiftSend empowers organizations through real-time communications to unlimited wireless users from one central location."

Directory and canned message functions make using the application quick and easy. SwiftSend also imports addresses from other wireless software such as Metrocall NoteSender, and AT&T MessageFlash Databases. Installation is simple and includes automatic modem detection.
